Sharing Your Faith
Sharing your faith. Is this a foreign concept???
Many “Christians” believe that once they get some God in their lives, they can just rest on that and then cruise on into the day of judgement. Do you think this is true? Or is there more to it than that?
Well, the Bible says – And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. – Mark 16:15
The Bible also says – Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. – II Timothy 4:2
It’s pretty clear that Jesus is saying, that we should “go out” there and share our Faith.
And what about those people close to you? Your brother or sister… Mom or dad, maybe even a cousin, nephew, niece, uncle, aunt – or your best friend. What about even your boss or your instructor or coach at school… Don’t they deserve to hear the truth? Shouldn’t you “Pay it Forward” to them? How are they going to know about Jesus, unless YOU tell them? Are you going to count on someone else, hoping that day will come? What if that final day comes for them and they still haven’t heard the “Good News”?
How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? – Romans 10:14
So, why don’t “Christians” go out and share their Faith?
There are so many excuses that I have had personally to not share my Faith. At one time, I thought being saved, just meant that I had to be a good person and people would just learn to be a Christian by how I lived out my life. Almost as if they would just get it on them some how. That they would just see how much better my life was and so they would want that too. When it’s put into words, it sounds really silly. I know that now.
But, the biggest excuse I had, was that I thought that sharing faith was only for preachers in a church, so I didn’t have to. I was off the hook. Boy, what I wrong. Once I started to realize that the Bible STATED that all Christians, yes – even me to put myself myself out there and “preach”, I started to worry. So many things ran through my head like, I’m not good enough – I’ve done too much bad, I don’t know enough of the Bible, I’m not a very good speaker, I… I… I…
You see the theme here? Everything that “I” thought had to do with what “I” could or couldn’t do – Limiting what God “could” do through me… I replaced the “I” with God and swapped out all the negative speak, with positive, uplifting speak. And it started with Philippians – 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. There is still an “I” there “I can do all things”, but it is now under the authority of Jesus and in His power and in His strength.
So, that’s what was stopping me. If you call yourself a Christian, then what’s stopping you?
